It is very funny, but it's nasty!!

The movie starts some 30 minutes after the end of the last one. Harold decides to be spontaneous and wants to follow Maria to Amsterdam and propose to her. So after one full exciting, adventurous night of going after the white castle burger craving, our boys set out to Amsterdam!

At the airport, they meet Kumar's ex-girlfriend who is now engaged to some political big-wig's son and is getting married soon. They clearly still have feelings for each other.

Kumar being Kumar, gets marijuana on the airplane with a self designed bong. Somewhere over the atlantic, he wants to smoke his stuff... and this is where it gets interesting! They are mistaken for terrorists, Al-Qaeda working with North Korea to be precise! :D

They are sent to Gunatanamo Bay. And how they escape from there, make their case and try to clear their names makes the rest of the story.

Like I said, funny and nasty!

Verdict: Go watch it!

Street Kings

Just how twisted and jacked up is the system? Watch Street Kings!

Keanu Reeves is the tip of the spear of the vice squad, cops who kill first and think later. Street justice, getting around the red tape... sounds familiar? Remember Training day? Anyway, Forrest Whitaker is the team leader and Reeves' mentor. The rest of the team is jealous of their equation.

Hugh Laurie just hates Whitaker and the way his team functions. He is from internal affairs and gets Terry Crews to give him dirt on the team. It so happens, Terry Crews is Reeves' ex partner and Reeves goes to confront him but they get ambushed and Crews is dead. Reeves now wants to investigate the murder and teams up with a young homicide detective to go about the investigation. And they stumble upon a can of worms!

How the whole thing unwinds is interesting.

It's a good movie but I don't understand why Common signed up for such a small part.

Verdict: Go watch it, violence and vice.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I was really expecting to laugh my ass off for the entire duration of the movie, 'cos I was expecting something as hilarious as Knocked up... but I was denied. It is an ok movie.

Kristen Bell breaks up with Jason Segel for someone else and he just cannot get over her. So he goes to Hawaii to drown his sorrows but lo and behold, she is there with the Russell Brand! Odd eh? Mila Kunis, the hotel receptionist where they are staying tries to help him out and they fall in love in the process.

Russell Brand is a free spirited English singer who doesn't believe in one partner! Kristen Bell finds that out and starts gravitating back towards Jason.

Go watch it, to find out how it ends.

There are many funny moments in the movie, but you have seen all of them in the promos or trailers. There is really not many more comedy scenes left. And it just felt like something was amiss.

Hawaii can be so much eye candy! :D

Verdict: DVD will do.

Smart People

Dennis Quaid is a professor at CMU and he is a personal skills nightmare. Everybody thinks he is a jerk, and rightly so. It's your classic dysfunctional family, daughter(Ellen Page) takes after the father and she hates everyone, son doesn't want anything to do with the family, the father is the provider but doesn't show compassion.

So the prof. meets with an accident and Sarah Jessica Parker attends to him in ER. She was his students once, but he doesn't remember that. He can't drive for 6 months due to the accident and his adopted brother (Thomas Haden Church) pops up, who needs a place to stay. Quaid finds the courage to ask her out, but manages to mess things up.

How all of them figure stuff out as smart people, makes the story.

Convincing performances, Thomas Haden Church is brilliant! Ellen Page is cute! You may remember American Beauty, this is a less colorful version of that. But it's a damn good one.

Verdict: Good movie, worth a watch.

Before I start...

I am starting a new blog for movie reviews, I should probably spend some time to make my own website... but I will do that later.

When I tried to register a URL for the blog, I just couldn't get a good name. I tried so many, like now playing, popocornproductions, take22, lightscameraaction and many more. How can popcornproductions be taken??? I realised, it's highly likely that anything you think of, someone has already thought about it. You know the worst part about these blogs, most of them are empty blogs... seems like people just registered them to mess with us.

Enjoy!
